On CONTRACT via Gratton Synthesis Ltd. (Redhill, UK)
Technical Support & Analyst/Programmer to a
medium sized client (Granby Marketing of Warrington). Responsible for helping
support a multi server Novell network with 30 users plus a Unix box with 60
users at three sites. The programs were written in dBase III+, dBase IV, FoxPro
2 and Clipper ’87.
During this four week contract I was sent in to help bridge the change-over to a new head office site and to help
whilst various technical staff took their summer holidays.
I was involved in upgrading and writing new programs in
FoxPro 2, Clipper ’87 and Clipper 5. These programs mainly consisted on name
and address manipulation systems. One system was a book keeping system, taking
in orders and forwarding the dispatch information to the warehouse.
I was also involved in making small changes to the Cobol
programs running on the Unix box.
